This was Cadillac's biggest year ever for sales of single-cylinder cars. The Cadillac Motor Car Company boasted that there were nearly 14.000 one-cylinder Cadillacs in use throughout the world, and that production of Cadillacs alone exeeded that of any three other makes combined.
But after three years, the little single-cylinder Cadillac was beginning to show its age. Four-cylinder cars were steadily increasing in popularity and the public was demanding more convenience and sophistication in its automobiles. Cadillac's 1906 single-cylinder cars continued on a 76 inch wheelbase.
These cars were officially rated at 10 horsepower, but the Leland-built single-cylinder engine of five-inch bore and stroke consistently produced more than that. It was Cadillac policy prodeliberately underrate engine output. Singele-cylinder car prices began at $750 for the standard two-seat runabout and raged up to $950 for the Model "M" light touring car and delivery car.
